THE STEKO METHOD
Corporate Wellness Exercises Optimized for Everyone
The office is not a gym, and we respect that, but with workplace wellness everyone benefits.
We do not use heavy weights and you won’t need gym shorts or yoga pants. Work attire is fine. If you have never stepped foot in a gym, that is okay too – Steko sessions are perfect for beginners. Instructors are certified and make sure participants master the basics before progressing.
Our sessions are designed for everybody. Come as you are–where you are. Exercises are low-impact, low-intensity, and refresh the mind and body. You don’t even have to break a sweat and we want participants to feel good in their bodies at the end without feeling discouraged or over-worked.
The movements included in the “Move with Steko” manual and practiced throughout the sessions are backed by scientific research and have been reviewed by our medical consultants, Orthopedic MD, Dr. James Parolie, and Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dr. Abby Siler.

What to expect in a Steko session
01
Enhance Stability
Stability involves strengthening the mind-body connection. Sensory receptors in the peripheral nervous system help the brain send quick signals to stabilize before you even know you are off balance. Neglecting these stabilizing muscles can cause them to become untrained and increase your chances of falling. And stability doesn’t just come from your muscles, it also comes from your brain. This is where proprioception matters. Practicing balancing movements, will help the brain and muscles prepare for moments of instability and reduce the risk of injury.
02
Improved Posture
Your posture encompasses a dynamic interplay of reflexes, habits, and adaptive responses to various factors, including gravitational forces and holding a position for an extended time. Prolonged sitting, especially without adequate movement breaks, can result in muscle imbalances within the upper back, chest, neck, and shoulders. Steko’s movements and stretches help address upper-body muscle length and muscle tension imbalances.
03
Activate Muscles Supporting the Lower Back
Low back injuries are the leading cause of missed work. People often assume that low back pain originates in the actual back, however, back pain has many causes, is multifaceted, and can worsen with prolonged sitting. Steko’s program addresses the muscles in the hip adductors, abductors, glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, and core in order to relieve opposing muscle imbalances and provide greater low back support.
04
Increase Flexibility & Mobility
Incorporating stretches into the program improves participants’ range of motion, posture, flexibility, and blood flow while reducing the risks of injuries, stress, muscle soreness, and tension. Moving the body through different ranges of motion helps the participant’s mobility and reduces the chances of injuries and falls. Flexibility and mobility are essential to physical well-being so every movement session includes a stretch at the end.
